I Used These Clean Skin Care Products for 30 Days & My Skin Transformed

I write about clean beauty on a regular basis, but to be honest I’m not what you’d describe as a “product junkie”. I like to have a simple routine that keeps my skin balanced and healthy. Here are four products, all formulated with safer ingredients, that transformed my skin, in approximately one month.

safer skin care

Countermatch Adaptive Moisturizer (morning)

I wrote about the magic of this line here, which is not only fragrance-free, but also formulated with safer ingredients and doesn’t contain fillers. This isn’t just any average moisturizer, it adapts with your skin as the day progresses. So if you have oily  or dry skin, it helps balance you out as you move through the day.

I thought it was too good to be true, but then tried the product and fell in love. You’ll notice that it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything on the skin, since it absorbs instantly, rather than sitting on top of your skin. I use the Countermatch Adaptive Moisturizer first thing in the morning after my shower, and proceed to layer on the tinted moisturizer outlined below.

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 (morning)

It’s no secret that wearing safer sunscreen every day is good for your skin. But did you know some makeup products can be formulated to double as a skin care treatment? That is the case with Dew Skin, a light coverage tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. I use two pumps of this product for additional coverage, and it gives me just enough tint to even out my skin tone, but it doesn’t look like I’m wearing any makeup. (If you love a full coverage foundation, I would recommend Tint Skin Foundation, which is buildable and can be layered on top of the Dew Skin.)

This product also has the most subtle sheen to it, creating a very natural, non-oily, dewy glow. In addition to sun protection, it doubles as a skin care treatment, helping to reduce dark spots. During the winter I blend #2 and #3 and in the summer when I have more of a tan I solely use the #3 tint. You can shop Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 HERE.

Mother Dirt A.O.+ Mist (for body and face)

Have you ever heard of your gut biome? It’s been the topic of conversation for the past few years, as scientists are finding the roots of many disease reside in the good bacteria (or lack thereof) in our stomachs. Mother Dirt is a company that is expanding the healthy biome concept to skin care. With a new, cutting edge suite of products, Mother Dirt has created a spray that you apply after you’ve showered and applied your makeup, before you head out the door in the morning.

This AO+ Mist helps restore the healthy bacteria on your skin, balancing the skin’s pH, oil content, reducing acne, and much more. You can use this product on your face, but the spray also works in sweaty areas like your arm pits, groin, neck, and chest, reducing your body’s odor overtime as your natural bacterial balances out. This product doesn’t have any preservatives (since good bacteria is the whole idea!) so it requires refrigeration…which is admittedly kind of a pain in the ass, but I still like the product. I’d like to also note that it’s odorless and colorless.

Rejuvenating Night Cream (night)

This is a lightweight night cream that also nourishes dry skin. The reason I love this product so much is because the cream drastically helps control my dark spots/melasma (not to mention the feel and quick dry time). From years of sun damage, my skin tone was pretty uneven. This Rejuvenating Night Cream helps keep my face moisturized at night, while featuring safer ingredients and treating damaged skin.

Simply put, taking care of your skin isn’t vain, it’s an act of self love. You don’t need an elaborate 12 step program to have beautiful skin, try these four!
