The news publication Al Jazeera recently created this great video which highlights some of the common exposures to harmful (and in some cases toxic) chemicals in our homes. I have offered up concrete solutions for each of the problem chemicals highlighted in this segment.   • When shopping for a new couch or armchair, look at the tag on the bottom to see if the couch has been treated with flame retardant chemicals (there will be a large X on the tag if it does). You want to find a couch that does NOT contain toxic flame retardants.

Finding safer products is an important way to support companies doing the right thing. And at the end of the day, we need better federal and state laws on toxic chemicals.
