Why Face Oils Work Wonders on Active Skin

When you have oily skin the last thing you want to do is add more oil to your skin care regime. I get it, as someone who has had “active” skin my whole life, I can safely say that face oils have been one of the best tools to reduce oiliness, acne and keep my skin vibrant as I age.

How Do Face Oils Help Active Skin?

Confused as to how this works? The basic philosophy is that you treat “like with like”, which is an ancient homeopathic concept. Oily skin is actually a symptom of overly dry skin. If your skin is chronically dry it over produces oil, which is why the last thing anyone needs is “oil-free” moisturizers.

That’s where face oils come in. When you use face oils (or balms) on a consistent basis you can actually help decrease the oil content in your skin over time by treating the chronic dry skin. The result is a healthy and balanced glow!

The Best Face Oils and Balms on the Market

I have three recommendations for face oils and balms to help address overly active skin, and all of these are based on my extensive experience vetting beauty products for safety AND performance. When you first start using these products, I recommend doing so a night, allowing the products to treat your skin while you sleep.

Face Oils

There are three different oils in my favorite collection, specifically formulated based on skin type. Each products has the same base blend of nine oils (grape seed, rosehip fruit, marula, organic argan, meadowfoam seed, sea buckthorn, rose flower, orange peel, and grapefruit peel) and are complimented with an essential oil fragrance to support the given function.

*Please note that all three oils can be used for all skin types, and all three will help reduce oiliness and address active skin.*

I love these oils because they absorb quickly, reduce redness, and can be used as a primer for foundation.

Cleansing Balm

This comes in a solid form, rather than a liquid oil, but is my favorite way to combat dry winter skin. This cleansing balm has ten different uses which you can read more about HERE. The primary way I use this product is as a night cream during the winter months.

LaRonna Jojoba Oil

Years ago I visited LaRonna Jojoba organic farm, which is located next to Joshua Tree National Park. This simple product is high quality, stored in glass jars (of particular importance for oils), and the plants are grown with out the use of pesticides. The only downside to this product is while it’s incredibly pure (only one ingredient), I find the oil doesn’t absorb into my face as quickly or easily as the face oils described above.

All said and done, I use the face oil collection outlined above (all three, depending on my mood!) every single day. You will be hard pressed to find a collection of face oils that absorb as quick, smell as delicious, all the while feeling confident about the safety of the ingredients.
